Program Overview

The Program in the Environment, run jointly by LSA and the School for Environment and Sustainability, studies the interactions of human beings and their environment across the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. How competitive: for fall 2025, the University of Michigan admitted 16% of its 109,112 first-year applicants; it publishes no separate figure for international applicants. It sets no IB minimum: it asks for predicted IB results if your exams are not yet taken, considers IB grades in context with your academic record, and is test-optional for fall 2027 entry. At Michigan you apply to one of its 15 undergraduate schools and colleges, not to the university as a whole. This major is in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).
