Program Overview
An interdisciplinary framework from the liberal arts, social sciences and humanities for understanding the role of media in economic, social, political and cultural life, with concentrations in digital studies, global cultural studies and media law and policy. How competitive: for fall 2025, UC Berkeley admitted 11% of its 126,864 first-year applicants; it publishes no separate figure for international applicants. UC sets no IB minimum and no subject requirement: international applicants must finish secondary school and be eligible for a competitive university at home, predicted IB scores are never the only factor, and SAT or ACT scores are not considered. You choose this major as your primary major when you apply, and Berkeley reviews only that choice. In Letters & Science, if you are admitted with this as your primary major you are guaranteed a place in it (High Demand Majors policy).
