Program Overview
TAISI is the English-based degree programme of Waseda's School of Social Sciences, training "social innovators". Students take foundation courses in economics, politics, humanities, history, marketing and law, then specialise in one of four fields: peace building and international cooperation, community and social development, social organization and working, or economic and environmental sustainability. Fieldwork and workshops with local governments and organisations apply classroom theory, and the programme looks at domestic and international issues from a Japanese perspective. How competitive: in 2026, 119 of 405 applicants were admitted, and those admitted averaged 36.8 IB points out of 42 (without bonus points). Waseda sets no minimum score and decides on the whole application.
