Program Overview
Waseda's School of Political Science and Economics teaches a BA in Political Science entirely in English in Tokyo. The degree promotes the scientific understanding of politics, from cooperation and conflict in local communities to disputes between states, and requires courses in analytical and quantitative methods. Students build a broad foundation over the first two years and then usually specialise in a subfield. The English-based programme admits in September only, on a holistic review of the application documents, and no Japanese is required. How competitive: in 2026, 218 of 994 applicants to the school's English-based programme were admitted, and those admitted averaged 38.9 IB points out of 42 (predicted grades included, the core not counted). Waseda sets no minimum score and decides on the whole application.
