Molecular Biotechnology

Program Overview

The bachelor's program in Molecular Biotechnology is devoted to the production and construction of natural as well as artificial biomolecules. In addition, it combines the basics of natural science with content from biology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. How TUM decides: an aptitude assessment. TUM's score out of 100 weights your IB total, converted to a German grade, at 50% and your grades in maths (×2), your best science (×2) and your other sciences at 50%. A score of 92 or more admits you, 74 or less does not, and in between you are invited to an online test. On TUM's formula, with 6s in those subjects, no IB total passes outright, so expect an online test, and 32 or below is turned down (our calculation from TUM's rules, not a figure TUM publishes). Teaching is in German. Your IB proves your German only with German A at HL; otherwise TUM asks for a certificate such as DSH-2, TestDaF with 4 in all four parts, or telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule.
