Chemical Engineering

Program Overview

The bachelor's program in Chemical Engineering traverses the interface between the natural sciences and engineering. How TUM decides: an aptitude assessment. TUM's score out of 100 weights your IB total, converted to a German grade, at 50% and your grades in maths (×3) and your best science (×2) at 50%. A score of 80 or more admits you, 64 or less does not, and in between you are invited to an interview. On TUM's formula, with 6s in those subjects, an IB total of 36 or more passes outright, and 26 or below is turned down (our calculation from TUM's rules, not a figure TUM publishes). Teaching is in German. Your IB proves your German only with German A at HL; otherwise TUM asks for a certificate such as DSH-2, TestDaF with 4 in all four parts, or telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule.
