Veterinary Nursing (BSc)

Program Overview

In response to the recognition and registration of veterinary nursing as a profession in Ireland, UCD developed and implemented a full-time, four-year honours BSc Veterinary Nursing degree programme in 2009. The degree provides the graduate with not only a sound academic foundation but also the practical skills and competencies with which to build a solid career as a professional veterinary nurse. How competitive: applicants from the EU apply through the CAO and are ranked on points. In round 1 of 2026, places went to applicants with 484 points or more. UCD does not publish how it scores the IB. On Trinity College Dublin's indicative scale for the IB, that is about 36 points, or about 34 with Higher Level Mathematics at 4 or better, which adds 25. Applicants from outside the EU apply to UCD directly, where 33 points makes them eligible to compete for a place.
