Program Overview

If you study Microbiology at Trinity you will be based in the historic Moyne Institute. The Microbiology department offers an intimate atmosphere where frequent interaction between staff and students fosters an intellectually stimulating and friendly environment for teaching and learning. To provide the extensive laboratory experience on offer, the Moyne Institute houses state of the art research and teaching laboratories containing all the equipment and expertise required for modern molecular and cellular microbiology. How competitive: applicants from the EU apply through the CAO and are ranked on points. In round 1 of 2026, places went to applicants with 553 points or more. On Trinity's indicative scale for the IB, that is about 41 points, or about 39 with Higher Level Mathematics at 4 or better, which adds 25. Applicants from outside the EU apply to Trinity directly and are assessed individually.
