Mathematics (Joint Honours)

Program Overview

Mathematics is a broad and diverse subject which is used to model, analyse and understand several applications in the physical and biological sciences, engineering, management science, economics and finance. Its numerous applications are naturally interwoven with the underlying theory which is essential in developing one’s logical reasoning, quantitative skills and problem-solving techniques. How competitive: applicants from the EU apply through the CAO, and each Joint Honours pair of subjects is ranked on points. In round 1 of 2026, the pairs with Mathematics took from 602 to 625 points, depending on the other subject. On Trinity's indicative scale for the IB, and counting the 25 points the required Higher Level Mathematics adds, that is from about 43 points to the full 45. Applicants from outside the EU apply to Trinity directly and are assessed individually.
